Newsletter June
06.07.2026
Dear Community,
Families in Gaza are increasingly exposed to serious health and environmental risks caused by poor waste collection, sewage flooding, and the buildup of rubble. Clean Shelter continues to respond to these overlapping challenges through practical, medium-term interventions that reduce risk, improve sewage and wastewater containment, and support safer living conditions. At the same time, we remain committed to delivering water for multiple uses to remote areas that still have no reliable access.
20 Additional Families Return Home
During June, we repaired 20 houses in Khan Younis and Gaza City at a total cost of $60,000. These interventions focused on damaged walls and windows, helping families return to homes that are safer, more secure, and more livable. With these repairs completed, the House Warming project has now supported the rehabilitation of 236 homes in total.
Sewage and public health
This month, we also launched our Al-Mawasi sewage intervention, an important step toward addressing worsening sanitation conditions in one of Gaza’s most crowded areas. The project will include drainage solutions, soakaway pits, catch basins, and local paving improvements to help control sewage and turn the area into a safer and more usable corridor. This intervention is expected to have a direct impact on 85,000 people living in the area, while also contributing to the broader public health of around 450,000 displaced people. The intervention has begun with an estimated total cost of $100,000.
Clean Shelter also cleared 5 major waste collection points across 7 camps in Al-Mawasi, improving sanitation conditions for approximately 1,800 families currently living there. This initiative cost $3,054 and will be extended in the coming months to prevent further health risks and improve camp conditions. Your support can help us keep this vital work going.
Water Access
Water delivery continued throughout June, despite fuel shortages that temporarily reduced the volume of water delivered. We are actively working to address these challenges and ensure that families continue to receive the clean water they urgently need.
Looking Ahead
In the coming months, we aim to expand our response through:
· 8 sewage interventions for buildings, camps, and destroyed neighborhoods,
· More house and building repairs for displaced and returning families.
· Semi-permanent water networks for 5 camps to improve reliable access to water.
Your support makes this work possible. Donate today to help us continue supporting displaced families with shelter, sanitation, and water in Gaza.
With gratitude and solidarity,
Seba and Tom,
Co-founders, Clean Shelter
