In a place where daily life is marked by hardship and uncertainty, Clean Shelter continues working to improve living conditions for displaced families through practical shelter, water, and sanitation interventions in Gaza.

32 Additional Families Return Home

During July, we repaired 32 damaged homes, helping families living in camps or unsafe conditions return to safer, more secure spaces. Beyond individual home repairs, we also supported wider community needs. At the residential building locally called “Shalabiya”, home to 25 families, we addressed urgent infrastructure needs by constructing a new sewage network to improve sanitation and living conditions. We also installed a new staircase to provide residents with safer and more accessible entry to the building.  This intervention was completed at a total cost of €8,900.

Expanding Access to Safe Water

Clean Shelter continued providing access to water for 60,000 residents in Al-Aqsa camp and five additional camps around the Al-Buraq area, helping communities meet their daily water needs and reduce the risks associated with limited access to safe water. In addition, we established internal water distribution networks in Al-Fajr, Al-Mutahabin, and Al-Salam camps, reducing the distance families need to travel for water and improving access for 1,738 families. This intervention improved sanitation conditions and helped reduce public health risks for displaced communities. The total cost of this intervention was €13,200.

Improving Sanitation Infrastructure and Access

We finalized the sewage network and completed improvements to Al-Noss Street and Roundabout, addressing a critical sanitation challenge in the area. The intervention included the construction of 10 absorption pits, installation of drainage lines to clear wastewater, and repair and repaving of the roundabout to restore safe movement and access. These upgrades reduced public health risks, improved environmental conditions, and restored access for residents and humanitarian aid trucks. The work directly benefited more than 85,000 people, with an estimated indirect positive impact on approximately 450,000 people through improved mobility and reduced sanitation risks.

Looking Ahead

We will continue expanding our work in home repairs, water provision, and sanitation infrastructure to support displaced families and improve living conditions across Gaza. We are also exploring practical solutions to reduce heat exposure inside tents during the summer months, recognizing that even small improvements can significantly affect people’s daily lives.
