Newsletter October

Throughout October, Clean Shelter continued working to improve safety, dignity, and living conditions for families in Gaza. In the past year, we’ve invested approximately €1 million in home repairs, helping hundreds of displaced families return to safer, more livable homes. But our financial resources are now exhausted while the need continues to grow. Before we had to stop accepting new requests, we received more than 4,000 requests for home repairs from families hoping to prepare their homes for winter. So far, we have been able to support hundreds of families, but thousands are still waiting.

Bringing 55 Families Back Home

This month, we repaired 55 homes, helping 55 families return to safer, warmer, and more livable spaces. Since the start of the project, we have repaired 410 homes, bringing a sense of safety and stability for families across Gaza.

Support for People with Health and Mobility Needs

We elevated and improved 11 tents to provide safer living conditions for 11 families with members living with chronic illnesses. We also distributed 4 wheelchairs to older people and people with mobility disabilities, and provided an accessible toilet seat for an older woman.

Water and Sanitation

We established a water network for daily use in Al-Hindi Camp in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, benefiting 380 families.  We also performed much-needed maintenance work on 20 toilets in Zomi Protection Camp, including repairs to the exterior structures and tiled surfaces, benefiting 80 families.

Waste Management

We continued collecting and removing accumulated waste from 7 camps along Al-Istabl Street and Street 5 in Al-Mawasi, benefiting approximately 1,800 families. We also renewed waste-removal activities in Hamad Al-Qatari Camp, supporting around 850 families.
