Newsletter July-August 2025
07.09.2025
Dear Community,
As we move through these challenging times, the need for clean water and dignified living conditions remains as urgent as ever. In this newsletter, weβre excited to share the latest milestones. From expanding our desalination systems to installing shaded spaces that bring comfort and dignity to daily life, each achievement reflects not just technical progress, but a deeper commitment to protecting the most vulnerable families.
Zomi Protection Camp: Women Leading with Strength
The community of the Zomi Protection Camp, home to 95 families, continues to demonstrate unity, resilience, and hope despite the intense situation and lack of necessities.
Every day, the women-led Zomi Management Committee organizes educational and recreational activities for children and adults alike - creating moments of joy, learning, and togetherness in the midst of hardship. The committee also coordinates food distribution and collaborates with other initiatives to ensure essential needs are met.
We are deeply grateful for their proactive leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening community bonds π - and equally grateful to our global supporters for making this work possible.
Expanding Access to Clean Water π§
Clean water remains one of the most urgent needs, with many families still walking long distances to fetch it. No one should have to struggle for such a basic necessity.
To address this, weβve reached several major milestones:
Β· Expansion of El-Buraq System:
Our first large-scale desalination system (10β12 cubic meters per hour), located in the El-Buraq area, has now been expanded to serve the Al-Qadsia area. This step was taken after observing that families were traveling long distances to collect water from the nearest site. With the new connections, the system now supplies safe drinking water to six surrounding camps, reaching approximately 30,000 people.
Β· New Al-Aqsa University System:
We have also purchased and installed a second desalination system in the Al-Aqsa University area. This unit, with a capacity of around 10 cubic meters per hour, now serves eight additional sites, providing fresh water daily to another 30,000 people in the Al-Aqsa communities.
Beyond infrastructure, we continue to engage the surrounding communities through outreach activities, ensuring their active participation in organizing, monitoring, protecting, and improving services.
Looking Ahead
Β· Third Desalination Unit: We plan to purchase and install a third large-scale desalination unit (8β12 cubic meters per hour) in the El-Fedai area, along with a connected distribution network. This will provide safe drinking water to an additional 30,000 people, raising the total number of beneficiaries to nearly 90,000 individuals.
Β· Shaded Arbors: To ensure safer and more dignified waiting conditions, we will install 50 shaded arbors at water collection points, food distribution sites, and medical service areas.
We continue to assess needs on the ground and remain flexible in adapting or expanding activities, ensuring that we respond effectively to the most urgent needs of affected communities, with particular focus on vulnerable groups.
With gratitude,
The Clean Shelter Team.
